Energy performance certificates EPCs are required when you are selling or letting your property in the UK.
Landlords need to obtain an Energy Certificate by a qualified and accredited assessor. All energy performance certificates need to be lodged with Landmark and are given a Unique refference Number this can be typed into the Landmark website and you can retrieve your Certificate directly form the site.
Energy Performance Certificates EPCs are Valid for 10 Years and dont need to be produced yearly like your gas check and electric saftey check required for Landlords.
EPCs give you a Rating form A-G A being the better and G the worst, The Average Rating in the UK is D.
Energy Certificates tell you how effivient the property is and way to improve the efficiecy ie. if you install Cavity Wall Insulation you will save on the heat loss which is around 35% on an uninsulated property.

Installing Double Glazed windows will also inprove the rating of your EPC.
